Gallery - photos I took on the farm
Our boat house on the bank of our dam. You are welcome to fish in the dam (bass) or river (trout). You are also welcome to swim and to use our kayaks . You can see the orange kayaks next to boat house. The boat house is a walk of about 2 km from Hilltop Cottage. Walking there is a lot easier than walking back! You are welcome to drive there. Would need a high clearance vehicle - Ferraris get stuck!
The most eland I have ever seen together! Shortly after I took this photo the four horses turned on the eland and chased them back into the mountains. An unbelievable sight!
Our little waterfall in the rainy season. This is a easy flat walk along the ridge of the valley, looking down to the stream from this waterfall, over interesting flat rock formations (about a km each way).
Watsonias (native to SA) on the hill on my neighbour's farm with Garden Castle in the background. I took this picture in early summer, when Watsonias usually flower for about 6 weeks
Picture of our dam from a different angle. On the horizon, on the far right is Hilltop Cottage and, to the left of that, under the huge blue gum trees, is our house. I'm told that these trees, which I planted 16 years ago, are a fire hazard. I weep at the prospect of chopping them down!
Guess why this is called One Rock Bench? It is a two minute walk from Shepherd's Cottage. A lovely spot to admire the view from.
View down the vally towards Underberg. Our Mzimude River flows through this valley where if flows into the Mzimkulu River. This is paradise!
